On the occasion of celebration of the 550th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev ji Government of Punjab has established Guru Nanak Chairs in 11 universities, including one at the Akal University, Talwandi Sabo. The Chair is envisioned of conducting research on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak.
