The Red Ribbon Club of the University celebrated World Aids Day on 2nd December 2019 to create HIV awareness and knowledge among the students and faculty of the University. On this occasion, Dr. Shantanu Ghosh, HoD Department of English delivered a lecture about HIV AIDS and global efforts to fight and eliminate the disease. He shared that there are many myths about HIV. Some people wrongly believe that HIV can be spread through the air (even though HIV can’t survive in air). HIV can’t be spread through saliva, casual contact, touching toilet seats or from mosquito bites either. He briefed the students that some precautions like avoiding sharing needles, syringes are very important to come in contact with virus of HIV. Dr Sandeep Singh, coordinator, Red Ribbon Club thanked all the participants on the occasion.
