Neutrinos are the tiniest fundamental particles of nature and perhaps the most mysterious ones. Right from the day of their discovery, these have played crucial role in understanding the mysteries of nature. Many Nobel Prizes have been given in discovering these as well as their properties. These continue to be mysterious and are at present subject of intense scientific interest. The colloquium intends to present in a pedestrian manner the initial discoveries related to neutrinos as well as the latest discoveries regarding these fundamental particles of nature. Further, it also presents on a popular canvas the role these particles are going to play in exploring the mysteries of the universe, in fact, these are now considered the ultimate tool available to mankind to explore not only the earth’s interior but also the origin as well as structure of the galaxies, stars, black holes etc..
The interaction session of students of Physics Department was organized with Prof. M. M. Gupta (Professor Emeritus, Panjab University, Chandigarh) in the conference hall of Akal University. Prof. Gupta motivated B.Sc. students for higher study in Physics and also discuss about various job opportunities for Physicists. A detailed discussion about availability of various national and international research fellowships was also held. Prof. Gupta also addressed various questions of students pertaining to NET, GATE and JEST examination.
