Akal University celebrated the 550thGurupurab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji with a lot of fervour and excitement. The celebration begins with a weak long daily Prabhat Pheris, early morning processions, on the campus with students and staff singing hymns.Each department of the University organised student competitions highlighting the life, philosophy and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The main event begins with a three-day Akhand Path, uninterrupted reading of Guru Granth Sahib Ji for 48 hours. The conclusion of the reading coincides with the day of the festivalon 12th November 2019.Bhai Jagdev Singh, Hazoori Ragi, Takhat Sri Damdama Sahib, staff and students spellbound the audience with melodious Shabad Kirtan of hymns from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. President Municipal Council Gurpreet Singh Mansahia and five other Counsellors of Municipal Council Talwandi Sabo, Sarpanches of Teona, Bagha and Peron villages and large number of panches from surrounding villages were guests of honour on the occasion. Sardar Kulwinder Singh from USA, Chief Guest on the occasion, distributed medals and certificates to the students excelling in different fields. He also threw light on the philosophy of Guru Nanak and motivated students to follow the path shown by our great Guru Ji. The celebration concluded with thanks of one and all by the Vice-Chancellor and serving of the Langar, a special community lunch, to one and all present on the occasion.
